I’m not best with updates on this website, but here’s the big thing happening this month: my newest book is out now!
The Lost Treasure Hunters and Other Tales of Folk Terrors is my fifth book, second collection, and first foray into found footage. I’m very proud of how this novella turned out, and I’m so happy I get to share it with you. And during Pride Month no less! I didn’t plan on having a release date in June because of the pure queer horror that waits in the pages of the book but because it’s the time frame of the novella, since the “treasure hunters” disappear on June 22th 2024. So, two more days and they’re gone without a word. And to learn what happened to the travel vlogging wives and their poor friends, you can now check it out in both ebook and paperback. Summer adventures gone wrong. If you like hiking, folklore and mythology, Slavic folk tales, found footage, queer characters, monstrous women, werewolves in different shapes, mountain fae folk, river fae folk, ghosts and creepy Dorms, this is a perfect book for you!
But that’s not all! This weekend, from the 22nd to the 23rd, is Queer Your Horror Bookshelf 2 promo event where you can snatch a bunch of queer horror books for just $0.99. Including my books It Eats Us From the Inside (aquatic eco-horror novella) and Mistress of Geese (folk horror collection). Since It Eats Us From the Inside is really about a small coastal town under the mysterious threat from the sea, it’s a perfect summer scare read for the beach. Get it and other great queer horror books (special rec for the Hummingbird and Saltblood by T.C. Parker!) while it’s on a discount!
And last but not least, at the end of June (28-30), you can find me at Isle of Wonders, a fantasy convention on Cres island (first ever there). I’ll be at the bunch of program items, including moderating the talk with Igor Rendić about his trilogy A Town Called River (in English), as a co-panelist on the horror panel alongside Petra Pine, Ivana Geček, and Vesna Kurilić (also in English), I’ll also moderate another panel about local fantasy (with the authors Igor Rendić, Franka Blažić and Jelena Dunato, in English), and in the end, we’re having a live podcast show for Mora FM, talking about Croatian speculative fiction (in Croatian). Check out the full program filled with fun workshops, panels, quizzes, concerts, and other activities, and if you’re coming, see you at magical Cres! Can’t wait for this island con adventure.
Last year, while I was writing the first draft of The Lost Treasure Hunters, Vesna and I went on a research hike, to experience the trail for the Turkish Door pass. You can check out the photos from that trip on Shtriga’s Pinterest page:
